These are the standing terms for voice-over work commissioned from me, Susheel C, an English-language voice over artist based in Chennai, India. They sit alongside the specific quote or booking confirmation I send for your project.
Where the quote for a particular project says something different from these terms, the quote takes precedence. These terms cover the engagement itself; your use of this website is governed separately by my Terms of Use.
These are plain-language standing terms, not bespoke legal drafting. For a large or unusual engagement, both of us are free to agree a separate written contract, and you should take your own advice if you need it.
Quotes and bookings
I quote against a brief. To give you an accurate figure I need to know what the recording is for, its length or word count, where and how long it will be used, and your deadline. A quote is an estimate based on that information; if the scope changes, the quote changes.
A booking is confirmed once you accept the quote and the advance payment (below) is received. Until then, no recording slot is reserved.
Auditions
I’m happy to record a short, free audition of your actual script so you can hear the read before committing. An audition is for evaluation only. It is not licensed for any use — broadcast, online, internal, or otherwise — unless and until the project is booked and paid for.
Pricing and usage
You are licensing the use of a recording, not buying it outright. The price reflects the scope of that use — where it runs (local, national, or global), for how long, on which platforms, and for what purpose (for example, internal training versus paid advertising).
If you later want to use a recording more widely than we agreed — a new territory, a longer term, additional platforms, or a different purpose — that expanded usage is quoted and licensed separately.
Payment
- 50% advance to confirm the booking, with the balance due before delivery of the final files.
- First-time clients: full payment in advance.
- Accepted methods: bank transfer, UPI, or cash. For international clients, any currency-conversion or transfer fees are your responsibility.
- I’ll raise an invoice for each project. Final, delivery-ready files are released once payment has cleared.
Revisions
One revision is included for a genuine change of direction or to correct something you’ve asked for differently. Anything I get wrong — a misread, a technical fault — I fix free of charge.
Re-records needed because the script changed after approval, or revisions beyond the included one, are quoted and charged based on the work involved.
Turnaround
I aim to deliver most projects within 24 to 48 hours on working days, depending on length and workload. A genuine same-day rush is possible subject to availability and carries a premium, because it displaces other booked work. The agreed deadline is confirmed in your quote.
Deliverables
Unless your quote says otherwise, I deliver broadcast-grade 24-bit WAV files, mastered to professional levels. I can provide other formats, sample rates, or per-file splits on request — just specify them up front. Files are delivered via the cloud platform you prefer (Dropbox, WeTransfer, Google Drive, or OneDrive).
Intellectual property
I retain copyright in each recording I make. On full payment, you receive a licence to use that recording for the scope set out in your quote. Any rights not expressly granted in the quote are reserved by me.
The recording remains my work; the licence is what you are paying for. If no scope is specified, the licence covers the single, specific use described in the brief, and nothing wider.
Voice and AI
This is non-negotiable, and it survives delivery and payment: a recording I provide may not be used to train, fine-tune, clone, or synthesise any artificial-intelligence or machine-learning voice model, nor to generate derivative or imitation audio of my voice by automated means. This restriction is never licensed, at any price.
Your responsibilities
You confirm that you own, or have the rights to, the script and any materials you send me, and that the content is lawful. You are responsible for the accuracy of the script, including spellings, names, numbers, and pronunciation guidance.
You indemnify me against any claim arising from your script or from how you use the recording — including any claim that the content or its use infringes someone else’s rights.
Cancellation
If you cancel after a booking is confirmed, the advance covers the time reserved and any work already done, and may be non-refundable depending on how far the project has progressed. If, in the rare case I am unable to deliver an accepted booking, I will refund your advance in full.
Confidentiality and portfolio
I treat the scripts and materials you share as confidential and won’t pass them on. I may name you or your brand as a client and feature the finished work in my portfolio and showreels — unless you ask me not to, or we have a non-disclosure or usage agreement that says otherwise. Where confidentiality applies, it applies to me too.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, my total liability for any project is limited to the fees you have paid for that project, and I am not liable for indirect or consequential losses.
Status
I work as an independent contractor, not as your employee. Nothing in our arrangement creates an employment, partnership, or agency relationship.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and I’d ask that we first try to resolve anything in good faith through direct discussion.
Changes
I may update these standing terms from time to time. The terms that apply to your project are those in force when you book it, together with your quote.
